How To Build A Routine Without Going Overboard

Back to basics - how to build a routine without going overboard

August 2021

Skincare shouldn’t be a chore. If you’re not enjoying it, there could be a simple solution - do less. Starting small is a great way to build your confidence, and when it comes to skin, sometimes less really is more. Whether you're new to the game and unsure where to start, or just feeling a bit stuck in your current routine - read this. It might help!

A daily skincare routine is a small but mighty method of boosting your self-confidence, mood, and mindfulness. These traits are easily left to their own devices in this day and age - we get it, everyone’s busy and important! The thing is, if you don’t look after yourself, it’s hard to cope with stressful, challenging, or otherwise unpleasant life events. Like, you know...a pandemic. Of course, skincare is not a replacement for medical advice or treatment, and we’re not saying a face mask will fix everything, BUT. It helps. It helps you because you now have time to slow down, take care of yourself, and reflect on what’s feeling good or bad.

On that note, allow us to introduce Sabbia Co’s Face It Face Kit. This is the only one of its kind on the market, providing you with the tools you need to do the absolute bare minimum, and still get glowing results. This kit suits all skin types and is made up of cleaning, plant-based and reusable tools. The only thing you need to add is water! You can then remove makeup, soothe breakouts, and treat yourself too healthy, happy skin. This collection includes:

Charcoal Konjac Sponge
 - lasting up to 9 weeks depending on use, this 100% biodegradable tool is created using Japanese konjac root and infused with bamboo charcoal. Its fibrous structure gently exfoliates the skin and removes everyday grime, makeup and bacteria. The antioxidant-rich, antibacterial combination helps deter acne and reduce excessive oiliness, making it effective across a range of skin types.

Reusable Cotton Pad - this 100% cotton pad is a wonderful alternative to disposable, single-use versions. These little miracles will last for up to 200 uses, depending on how you care for them (ideally, warm wash once a week in a lingerie bag with like colours). Once you’ve retired them from skincare, they can be repurposed around the house for a range of cleaning tasks.

Reusable Makeup Removal Pad
 - this cotton and bamboo blend is super-soft on skin and at 10cm across, it’s one of the biggest removal pads on the market. Once used (will last 200 washes depending on use), this pad can be returned for up-cycling if you don’t need any more in your house. One of these sustainable makeup pads replaces around 1000 disposable pads each year!

Cotton Headband
 - made from microfiber elastic cotton, this will last up to 12 months depending on use. Keep your hair out of your face when applying skin products and masks. For best care, wash your headband with natural soap or in a lingerie bag with like colours.

Face Brush - this tool is made using recycled synthetic bristles and is cruelty free. After each use, wash thoroughly with natural soap and air dry.
Here are some recent reviews of the Face It Face kit (thank you to all our wonderful customers!):

Beth: I purchased the Sabbia Co Cleanser, Vit C (used twice daily) and Mask (whenever I feel like it) with the Face it kit. My daily cleansing routine is now so easy but strangely it has become more enjoyable, a ritual to look after myself. I take more care and time to use these products. I have not used a konjac sponge before, I love it and my skin is noticeably improved as a result. Sabbia Co has worked like nothing I have used before. Breakouts literally calm overnight and go away rather than becoming more inflamed. These natural products are from earth so the least we can do is thank her back with earth earth friendly choices. You won't regret it!”

Megan: Makes my skin feel 100 times cleaner than any previous cleansers I have used and doesn’t dry out or leave my skin feeling uncomfortable. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially to people struggling with acne like myself. It’s also a major bonus that it’s not harming our beautiful planet and locally made. I love this product!!”

Alice: I've been suffering from cystic acne for the last 6 months and have tried everything to try to clear it, brought the face it face kit. Overnight my acne had calmed down and after two weeks has nearly cleared it completely.”

Jayde: Literally love this kit. I have used so many different skin tools in my time but this one is easily the best I have used. The fact it's sustainable is just the icing on the cake! My skin has never glowed so much since using these tools. Cannot recommend enough.”

Before using the kit, wash the reusable tool (makeup pad, cotton pad, headband) like you would wash new clothes before wearing. The Konjac sponge should be soaked in hot water to disinfect it and to allow it to expand. Follow the steps below to include each tool in your routine:

1: Use the Cotton Headband to pull hair away from the face.
2: Soak Reusable Makeup Removal Pad in water and remove makeup.
3: Soak Charcoal Konjac Sponge in water and cleanse/gently exfoliate. This product can be used with just water or add your favourite cleanser for a double cleanse.

4: Apply toner or cleanser to Reusable Cotton Pad and cleanse/tone.
5: Apply your face mask or treatment with Face Brush.

The Face It Face Kit is a great way to start your sustainable skincare journey. It’s very simple to use (just add water), it has genuine benefits to your skin’s health, and all items within the kit are either recyclable or biodegradable. Win-win-win. Blocking out some time, typically at the beginning or end of your daily activities, to perform a basic skin ritual is well worth the effort. Washing and cleansing your face alone is a healthy habit to get into, and once you’ve got those down pat, adding in a nutrient-rich moisturiser is a pretty easy upgrade. Regardless of how simple the steps are, taking the time to do this is a very real statement about ‘how I take care of myself’.
